How is Aggregate Produced?
Aggregate production is the process of converting raw quarry material — limestone, basalt or similar — into precisely-graded sizes through crushing, screening and washing.
Large blocks are coarsely reduced in a primary jaw crusher, then taken down to target sizes through secondary and tertiary crushers. Screen decks separate the size grades; the wash line removes fine particles for concrete-quality aggregate.
Throughout the process, samples are pulled from each batch and run through lab tests for gradation, strength, freeze-thaw resistance and abrasion.
